Brenda Walsh graduated from University of Alberta in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She began her career at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, where she focused primarily on Neurology and Orthopedics. She has worked as a physiotherapist in private practice for over 25 years in Calgary, Victoria, Comox and now in Kelowna. Brenda has enjoyed working at Sun City inGlenmore for 4 years.

In 1992 Brenda had the opportunity to work in Australia for a year, where she was introduced to new research in neurodynamics, and the field of Women’s Health practice in Physiotherapy. Living in Australia also sealed her love of being on or near the water.

Brenda’s expertise combines lifelong learning with over 30 years of experience in a variety of settings. She obtained her post-graduate Diploma of Manipulative Therapy in 2003, from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She holds a certificate in Anatomical Acupuncture. Her areas of special interest are treating disorders of the neck and shoulder, hip and pelvis. She designs individualized treatment and exercise programs for people with scoliosis, osteoporosis, low back pain, and other
problems affecting their physical well-being.

Brenda has worked in the Women’s Health field for 18 years, assisting women with pelvic floor disorders, pre- and post-partum women with low back and pelvic pain, prolapse and Diastasis Recti (abdominal muscle separation). She also treats men with pelvic pain or incontinence.

Treatment begins with a thorough assessment, seeking to find the root cause of a muskuloskeletal/ pain problem. She uses tools such as soft tissue release, joint mobilization, postural re-education and specific exercise. When pain and swelling prevent normal movement and function, she finds
acupuncture and modalities helpful. Brenda’s goal is to involve the client in self-management techniques and promote an active approach to healing wherever possible.

When she’s not working, Brenda enjoys paddle boarding, cycling and hiking in summer. She loves alpine and cross country skiing and Latin dancing in the winter months. Brenda enjoys trips back to Vancouver Island to go kayaking and sailing. She loves to meet new people and travel.
